Anubex awarded contract to modernize IT of Kopieersystemen Nederland

Anubex is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract to modernize the IT of Dutch KN (Kopieersystemen Nederland), distributor in the Netherlands of Konica Minolta. The modernization will involve the migration of the company's core business systems to an improved and open infrastructure. As a result of the migration, KN will be ensured uninterrupted continuity of their core business while they incrementally implement a flexible SOA. 

The project, valued at about 500.000 euros, is scheduled to be complete with all migrated applications being taken into production in December 2008. Kopieersystemen Nederland will then take the migrated system live over the course of a weekend. Until then, a team of some 15 people, consisting of both Anubex migration experts and IT staff from KN will collaborate to prepare for the final migration. This migration process will guarantee the continuity of the KN business and will ensure minimal involvement of users.

Technically, the migration will involve the transformation of the applications from ISAM/COBOL to an Oracle RDBMS. At the same time, the applications will be ported from a Wang/VS minicomputer to a Windows environment.

Users previously working with character-based virtual terminal front-ends will see their screens converted to a full-fledged Web and GUI environment powered by the latest Java technology. Mobile users who connect to the system today using handheld devices will not be impacted by the migration.

The migration will move some 1.5 million lines of code, 3000 user-interface screens, and 20 GB of data to Windows. The many hundreds of users, developers, and operators of the applications will continue working with the converted applications once the migration is complete. The developers of the application will abandon their current development tools for a single, completely integrated development environment under Eclipse.
